Science Behind VegEPA

VegEPA combines the benefits of ultra-pure EPA from marine fish oil and GLA from organic virgin evening primrose oil, providing a highly concentrated source of omega-3 and omega-6 long-chain fatty acids and botanical triterpenes. Molecularly distilled for optimum purity, Vegepa is endorsed by medical professionals for a variety of conditions.

The benefits of omega-3 fatty acids have long been known but it is only in recent years that the scientific community discovered that the key omega-3 fatty acid is EPA or eicosapentaenoic acid. This highly unsaturated fat has many remarkable health-giving properties. EPA makes up the phospholipid layer in cell membranes and is crucial for smooth messaging between neurons in the brain. The efficacy of this messaging is vital to health; deficiencies of this important nutrient can have significant implications for our well-being. A growing body of research suggests that EPA alleviates symptoms of an array of mental and physical conditions well as providing a protective effect against a wide variety of health problems.

VegEPA also contains organic virgin evening primrose oil (it is unprocessed and unrefined) which is a rich source of the omega-6 fatty acid GLA as well as the family of botanical triterpenes, providing added immune support. Studies have shown that triterpenes help to "mop up" free radicals, thus protecting against oxidative cell damage.

VegEPA is free of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which is another omega-3 fatty acid. DHA has been shown to inhibit the beneficial effects of EPA when both are combined in supplement form. To allow the EPA to play a more active role in the brain, DHA is removed in the molecular distillation process. The highly purified oil is left "ultra-pure" and in a form that is most bioavailable to the body. To find out more about this please select why no DHA?
